Winter 2019 - The professor was pretty nice. There are 3 essays which I felt were graded quite harshly. I put the most effort into my final essay and I ended up getting a B+ on it. I was expecting to hopefully get an A in the class but I did not. There were weekly readings that we had to do and then post a short response online on what we read. These were easy because I stopped doing all the readings and I usually did the shortest one for the week and then wrote the response in less than an hour. Overall, she actually helped me improve on my writing and her class focused on contemporary media. I would recommend her but don’t expect to turn in half-assed essays and get an a in the class. A “B+” is doable but you have to be a good writer to get an A. I’d also recommend going to her office hours because she gives good feedback on essays which can help you see what she wants in the paper.

Fall 2019 - This is a great class. He is engaging, entertaining, and the subject we are learning about is really interesting. He always asks a question on our sign in sheet to get to know more about the students. The class is relatively easy, but thats mainly because the subject he chose for the class is easy to write about. Very interesting class and a great teacher.

Honest, EC3 is one of the most useful classes you will ever take in college. Greg has done a wonderful job. He does not have many assignments and he helps you through each one. And you can basically write about anything you want as long as what you write is a social/cultural commentary. Writing something you really like makes writing fun. Greg's reading are very interesting and funny. Take him if you have the chance. Great guy, great class.

Really nice guy and entertains the class each and every lecture. If you understand and utilize his recommendations on your essays you should definitely be able to pull off an A-, if not an A. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Samuels' class considering I was a pretty decent writer and got an A.

Winter 2024 - Professor Samuelson was a great professor and truly cared about the improvement of students writing. I was nervous at first to take the course because at first, I did not feel confident in my writing. As I end the course, I feel more confident in my writing and I have learned many helpful writing tips. The course was challenging, but I feel that I improved so much as a writer. Professor Samuelson mentioned in the beginning of the course, that if we put in the work and time on our essays we would do great in the class and I agree. I was once a person who said "This is my first draft and final draft," but now I go through the process of writing a bad first draft and revising it. I enjoyed the assigned readings because they were relevant to today's world and I was actually interested and engaged when reading them. The reading responses, I felt were tedious, but they were very helpful when it came to starting my rough drafts. Professor Samuelson always encouraged students to attend office hours, and I did, which I felt was very helpful. I highly recommend Professor Samuelson because she was encouraging and helped me to become more confident in college writing. I now implement the writing skills I learned in the class to other classes where I need to write.
