Advanced Engineering Electrodynamics

Description: Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Requisites: courses 101B, 162A. Advanced treatment of concepts in electrodynamics and their applications to modern engineering problems. Vector calculus in generalized coordinate system. Solutions of wave equation and special functions. Reflection, transmission, and polarization. Vector potential, duality, reciprocity, and equivalence theorems. Scattering from cylinder, half-plane, wedge, and sphere, including radar cross-section characterization. Green's functions in electromagnetics and dyadic calculus. Letter grading.
