Creating Safe and Welcoming Schools
Description: (Same as Public Affairs M125.) Lecture, three hours. Examination of historical context and causes of school violence, theories, and diverse perceptions of school climate and safety. Special emphasis on impact of school climate on oppressed groups and how social contexts such as poverty and how neighborhood resources influence school safety. Letter grading.

Winter 2024 - I found this class to be super interesting. The professor clearly cares about his students, and the workload is easily manageable. The only thing I didn't like was TAs getting to randomly pick someones discussion post to read to the class but luckily I never got picked (mine were never that good haha).
