I did not really like her. She basically wrote the course reader on the board. She has an accent and is hard for to understand. She is not very clear and does not do very many examples. Questions on the hw are impossible and u need to have past solutions. Midterms and finals were fair but her curve was non existent/bad. Did above average on final, average on midterm, 100's on all the hw's, top 10% on the matlab project and i got a B. The TA was pretty whatever, tl dr i would not recommend taking the class with her.

I don't understand those ratings at all...He really is not that bad. Just try really hard in the homework, GO TO OFFICE HOURS so that the TA and Jacobsen make you understand his lectures. Also, most of the answers from the homework can be found in the slides and video lectures but most people don't bother looking at those. By the way, it is the homework that helped me get an A. Most people didnt try and the average would be around a 50. Since his homework is 25%, it helped me a lot. If you try hard in this class, you will do very well. The only negative point is that it takes quite some time. Lectures could get quite boring too

Okay well this course in general isn't the best course you can take in the EE department. It was basically Linear Algebra with MAJOR twists and turns. As for the professor, well he's an okay lecturer. His lectures were dry, for the most part, and it was a reason why many people in my class started to not care about the course around midterm season. As far as homework assignments go, Vandenberghe assigns REALLY difficult problems from his course reader. However, if you go to his office hours, which were held right after class, he would be EXTREMELY helpful on whatever homework problems you are having trouble with. The TAs' office hours helped quite a lot too. The midterm was pretty difficult (average was just above 50%), and the final pretty much owned everyone (average was just above 40%). I did scored a little above average on both exams and ended up with a B+. If you have to take EE 103, Vandenberghe would be an okay professor to take, but if you can find another one who's better (and not to mention easier), take the other one instead.
