Fall 2021 - Pros: Korf has been teaching for 35 years here and explains the concepts really clearly. He's fun in teaching and super helpful. He replies to questions on discord immediately. Grading only contains 9 HWs, no pressure for exams. Cons: Korf's teaching is by giving out rhetorical questions and waiting for the one correct answer as the concept he wants to cover. This often takes too long. HWs are too complicated and time-consuming, asking you to design a vending machine or a calculator from scratch. They usually take me 10-hrs and 12-pages to finish, and gotta do this weekly. W8 HW on the other lec is the same as the one we did in H3, unbelivable.

I think it was her first time teaching the class because the midterm was way too easy and everybody got a's. She tries really hard and I thought she taught the class very well, the book is not that good but she does a good job teaching it. The final was WAY harder but it was curved so not that hard of a class.

Winter 2019 - Miodrag is objectively the worst professor I've had at UCLA. He does almost no teaching during the course of the 2 hour lectures. Instead he passes the time by flipping through slides or going over needless administrative items. Almost none of the content that is on the exams can be learned from him. You must hope that your TAs cover the material or that the exams closely follow the pattern of previously posted exams (the only saving grace of this class). His total disinterest in our success in the class is revealed when he does such things as answer his cell phone during the midterm right by his microphone so that the Mong Learning Center reverberates with his voice. Perhaps this is already clear but I highly recommend avoiding him.

Fall 2020 - Pros: - Only had 3 homework assignments, so there wasn't much outside work needed - Relatively easy to get an A - TA discussion section slides were helpful - We had slightly over 24 hours to finish both our midterm and final exams - The midterm exam was pretty easy (though tedious), and the final exam was very easy - Professor seems like a genuinely nice guy Cons: - Professor did a poor job at explaining concepts -- TA's did a better job in discussion section - Lecture recordings were posted extremely late - Professor often took too long at explaining an unrelated concept, and then would rush through more important material - The midterm was intended to take 2 hours, but took substantially longer - Not sure how prepared I am for future CS classes that may build on this material
