I've never received a C in a class before but Butler was kind enough to give me my first one. I'm not disappointed because I deserved it. I probably only read about 10% of the material. It had to be the most boring class I've ever taken at UCLA. Nothing he said made sense to me. It was almost as though he was in his own little world. In fact, I thought it was kind of funny but at the same time, I couldn't wait for it to be over. Classic 163 definitely isn't for anyone. You need to have an interest in that kind of shit if you want to do well.

Winter 2024 - This is probably my favorite course I've taken at UCLA so far, and Professor Martelli is absolutely amazing! I had never taken a Classics course before, but by the end of the quarter I felt that I had a relatively solid understanding of a topic that had previously intimidated me. The readings were intense in terms of density but were also endlessly fascinating. Assignments were well managed and returned with thoughtful comments and appropriate grades. I loved that Professor Martelli offered us opportunities to utilize BruinLearn for discussion and assignment submission and I wish that more professors incorporated these tools. Taking Classics 163 was a fantastic experience and I wish that I could take this class again!
