Female in Greek Literature disappointed me. I would have preferred it if Bergren lectured more and had us discuss less. The class was about 75% discussion from students and sometimes people would bring up pointless arguments that were not important to know for the midterm/final. Bergren LOVES creativity so if you're a creative person, she'll certainly love you. The amount of reading is reasonable and there is only a 5 page midterm and a 10 page final. I would take another class with Bergren because I think she's great! I just did not enjoy the format of this particular course.

I have to disagree with the first review posted on this page- granted I didn't have Professor Wood for 162 but I find her lecture style to be excellent and very effective. She makes class very interesting and tests on exactly what she lectures. In fact the testing format is the same as most other classics courses- if you have taken a classics course here you shouldn't have any problem and even if you haven't I have a theatre major friend with no classics experience who loves her. As for the level of her vocabulary- this is a world class university and we should appreciate the level of education our professors have. Yes, she has quite an expanded vocabulary and I for one am very grateful for this, as it's another way to further my education. In all Heather Wood is a wonderful new professor with amazing insights and I would refer friends to her in a heartbeat. The university is lucky to have her.
