Advanced Chinese for International Business

Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Requisite: course 6 or 10 with grade C or better or Chinese placement test. Not open to native speakers. Doing business with China and understanding Chinese economy and business conducts require advanced level of Chinese language proficiency and deep understanding of Chinese society and culture. Designed to improve student language skills in service of business practice and ground language learning in authentic social cultural settings. Focus on oral and written business communication, cross-cultural communication, social etiquette in business conduct, Chinese economic and business climate, language of business and trade regulations, resources and environment, and business case studies. Letter grading.
