Winter 2025 - Really interesting class, even though the 3 hour period can feel a bit daunting. There are really only 4 major assignments: a brainstorm for your final assignment (15%), a literature review/search for your final (15%), the final paper (30%), and weekly reflections based on peer discussions in class (30%). The other 10% comes from attending discussion. He also offers up to 3 points of extra credit if you attend a public health event and do a 1 page write up which is easy points! Dr. Hayes-Bautista is a great lecturer who is very passionate about the subject, and you'll really learn a lot! Be aware that even though the syllabus doesn't explicitly mention attendance, they do take it at the end of class, and your weekly reflections are only valid if you actually attended. Also note that the deadlines were almost always noon as a heads up.
