Summer 2023 - So for CCAS 10B I had Paula Ayala during the summer course. She's super nice and seems pretty lenient. Overall the class is boring but worth taking. It's an easy A since there are literally only 2 assignments which are two essays both 5 pages and they're based on a topic of your choice by using the readings she provides for you to create an argument and write about. The class is super easy. It's 10% participation and 10% attendance while the essays are worth both 40%. Seeing as I'm writing this while on week 5, I don't know exactly how she grades on the essays since she hasn't submitted any grades. But seeing as she also didn't provide much information or rubric on how to write the essays we should be fine. I also got by without readings some of the texts she provides since in class she talks about it but her lectures are kind of all over the place. Overall take the class for an easy A.

Winter 2023 - i took this class completely online so i'm not sure how different it would be now, I also took it about a year ago so I kind of forgot most of it but since there's no reviews I thought this might be slightly helpful. we had small 1-2 page reflections every week based on the readings, which were graded on completion. then, we had three longer papers (4-5 pages) in which we had to create an argument based off of the readings. in short, all you had to do was have a general understanding of the readings in order to do well in this class, since all the assignments were based on the readings. my ta omar was great, would 100% recommend taking him if you can. you'll do fine as long as you try your best. the material was pretty interesting.

Winter 2024 - Okay, I felt that Professor was trying too many new things and it got really confusing. The TAs were literally the saving grace of the class, they were kind and taught all the material. I hated that classes were not recorded, they were so late in the day and the guest lectures were literally on zoom. My main issue was her changing the grading scale on the midterm. After our midterms were graded, she changed it so everyone got a whole grade not +-. So although great for people who got A- , it brought the grades down of us who got B+ or A+. TAs were pissed about it too since they were the actual ones doing all the work. I thought the content was interesting but we did not even really learn content it was just QA every lecture. I also hated how the midterm and final were set up since we only had 2 pages double space to write about 4 weeks of content. I just felt the professor really was trying to make the class a staple class and it just really fell through. Its okay for a GE to be simple. Most students get into a major or minor from the simple GEs.
