Winter 2023 - Professor Overton is an excellent professor and an amazing person. Her humor and smile are on point and she is indeed a snazzy dresser (I wonder if she has a closet dedicated to scarfs? hmmm...)Her lectures are engaging, well structured, relevant, and contain beautiful photographs/videos of Islamic architecture. You MUST attend every class since majority of the exams are based on it (she doesn't take role, but believe me...go to class). I would definitely take notes and add photographs from either google, google maps, and Archnet (if Prof. Overton sees this...did you see what I just did *nudge nudge*). I had absolutely zero exposure to Islamic Art and History prior to taking her class, however, I left with knowledge, appreciation, and love thanks to Prof. Overton. She is so influential that I minored in Middle Eastern Studies. If that doesn't say anything...not sure what will. Last bit of advice...READ THE EXAM QUESTIONS CAREFULLY. They will trick you. Read them multiple times and write legibly!
