Anthropology of Water: Nature, Culture, and Power
Description: Seminar, three hours. Requisite: satisfaction of Entry-Level Writing requirement. Freshmen/sophomores preferred. Examination of social, cultural, and political dimensions of water through approaches developed in anthropology and allied disciplines. Attending to questions of value, meaning, power, and inequality, exploration of concepts such as commodification, development, colonialism, and racial capitalism through lens of water. Letter grading.
