Fall 2024 - I personally loves Professor Hollan's class and would 100% take him again. He doesn't use lecture slides but if you take notes as he is lecturing you will do fine. I personally found his lectures to be really engaging and interesting, but for those who did not read the books of course lecture wouldn't be as interesting to them. Our grade was based off two papers based on the books we are assigned to read (there are three papers but we get to choose which two we want to write) and are worth 35% of our grade each, and two take home exams which are basically just defining concepts, each worth 10 points both totaling 20% of our grade. Participation in discussion is mandatory and worth 10% of our grade. Easiest class I have taken and I would love to take him again. He is a very nice and well-rounded guy!
