i love dr brix! this is the first a in a science class that i've gotten since 9th grade. he lets you use a study sheet for both the midterm and the final, and is so willing to help in any way possible. he's also super understanding; i had to miss the midterm for a sports tournament and he let me take an "oral quiz". also great is that he has a tight german accent. take brix for an easy science ge

Fall 2023 - The prof is very engaging and passionate about the subject which made me genuinely interested. I will warn tho if you aren't a physics-y person it can be a little tough, as lots of the content are similarly structured to physics things such as forces. It's genuinely manageable and a fun class if you go into it knowing you will have to learn and memorize and it won't be a walk in the park.

Winter 2023 - Unless this class is part of your major, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH THIS PROFESSOR. He has a terribly thick accent that made all his lectures completely incomprehensible. Even if you manage to understand every other word he says, his lectures are very monotone and will bore you to death. Granted, the subject he is teaching is not very exciting, he still makes the class insanely boring with the lack of activities there are and by the way he just speaks at you for an hour straight. By week 3, 80% of the class stopped showing up to lecture. Other than that, for some reason, he makes his tests pretty difficult with the mean for the midterm being a 66% and a 70% for the final (NOTE THAT HE DOES NOT CURVE). He also does not give any credit for any late assignments, no matter what your excuse is. There are many other classes that you can take to satisfy whatever requirement this classes checks off.

Fovell is the best professor I've had so far. He doesn't use a textbook or powerpoint, just his notes, chalk, and ton's of examples during lectures. Some of the topics were a little difficult to understand, but he explains them very clearly multiple times and offers extra "tutoring" office hours for those who want more help. Some questions on the midterm and final were a bit tricky and require a good understanding of the material, but as long as you go to lecture and take thorough notes, this class is a piece of cake and you learn some pretty cool things.
