Fuck Oscar. He is one of the sneakiest people I have ever met. He will greet you with his fake smile and act nice, but (not so) deep down, all he cares about is finding ways to take more money from you. The building itself is clean, and they are pretty quick about maintenance. You have to pay for all utilities yourself including gas, water & power, wifi and they tack on fees to your portal for sewage, parking (if applicable) and other miscellaneous utilities.
This might be the worst apartment I could've ever imagined living at. Oscar, the "landlord", is one of the rudest, most incompetent, selfish, and apathetic people I have ever come across. After our unit got broken into by a crazy man in the middle of the night–forcing us to jump off our own balcony–Oscar neglected to provide us with any alternative living options which forced all of us to couch surf for over a month. Not only that but we were also forced to pay that month's rent even when our apartment was covered in fire exinguisher (thanks to the lovely psychopath that was allowed to waltz into the complex) leaving us unable to live there. These people don't care about you at all, they're just here to take your money. Thanks for nothing, Atrium!
Do not stay in this apartment. The landlord Oscar is truly one of the most idiotic and slimiest people I have ever interacted with. Truly could not have less respect for the guy. There are so many great apartments in Westwood with great and easy landlords so please do yourself a favor and do not stay here. You will hate it.
Oscar aka the “landlord” is the most incompetent and illiterate person I have ever met. Did not bother to tell us when someone was stalking the building, instead waited for a apartment break in and labeled it as “misuse of fire extinguishers” instead of a dangerous break in that put tenants at risk. No action has been taken sense either. Would feel safe if we had a landlord that cared and got shit done.
The Atrium is a nice apartment complex two blocks from UCLA. It’s worth the money. Oscar, the manager, is great about responding to tenants’ needs and making sure the building is kept in good condition. The apartments are spacious — good size living room and dining room, plus full kitchen with lots of cupboard space. It’s great having a balcony. It’s been an ideal place to live as a UCLA student. The tenants are happy at the Atrium, so everyone is friendly toward each other.
It is a nice appartment which makes it expensive. One thing i liked about the complex is that the landlord is great. He does his job well while still being a super chill guy. He is the landlord but he is very down to earth listening when you have a problem and helping you solve it. In regards to parties he will stop by chill for a few minutes then tell you to keep it down and we have never had a problem with it. He doesn't take anything personally or gets angry over the things college kids do. definetely one of the better landlords i have had.
Atrium Court is definitely one of the pricier places north of Wilshire, but there's definitely a reason for that. I am currently living in here and am searching for another cheaper apartment for next year, but have come to realize that 90% of the apartments are just plain shitholes after having lived in Atrium.
The building manager, Al, lives in the building and is probably one of the nicest landlords I've encountered. He's helpful, straightforward, responsive and easily reached (almost always in his office from 9AM-6PM). He's also really cool with parties; doesn't seem to mind them as long as they're kept at a reasonable level. He even throws resident appreciation parties on the rooftop with free food, and even emails us about movie tickets and gift certificates.
The maintenance crew are also incredibly nice and respectful people. Any problems reported usually get fixed within a day or two, although to be quite honest I've never really had anything happen that would require constant fixing. Atrium is a NICE apartment complex and it's very rare that things would start falling apart unless you excessively abuse it.
I've never had any pest problems while living here, no ants or roaches of any kind even when leaving food out for a few hours. Trash chutes are available on every floor, elevator is never broken and the hallways are nicely maintained with a cleaning lady that comes every so often.
Mail/packages get delivered straight to the office, which locks at night so I've never had to worry about losing packages or having people steal them.
DO NOTE that Atrium charges AUM fees, which are monthly fees in addition to your rent to maintain the rooftop jacuzzi, sewage, etc.
All in all, if you've got dough to spare, Atrium is definitely highly recommended. After a year of living here I've got no complaints.
